Textyper_ was developed and is owned by Imperigo Software, a privately owned company.

Although texting has became an national phenomenon in the UK, the facility for people and businesses to rapidly contact others through the use of a text message, without having to slowly tap digits into a mobile phone was virtually non existent. An idle conversation between the owners of Imperigo Software about this inadequacy soon got their brain cells thinking. Shortly after textyper_ and this website was born.
